Introduction from Andrew:

My practice of many years has been the Ashtanga Primary series which has a reputation of some ‘difficulty’ due to its many vinyasas within the standing and seated sequence. I would like to take the time to explore the sequences which are made up of many familiar asana. Forward bends, side bends, spinal twists and back bends in standing and seated, prone and supine. The aim being to modify and make them approachable to all during the morning session.

In the afternoon we may complete the series, probably seated and inversions, depending on how quickly we have moved through the mornings series. There is no rush.

We will finish the  day with  embodied breathing, a  pranayama and relaxation.

Whole day schedule:

  • Arrivals and Announcements
  • Warm up seated and standing
  • Exploration of Sun Salutations A&B
  • Short break
  • Standing Sequence
  • Seated sequence with a view to including vinyasa between each asana.
  • Lunch: please bring your refreshments. Drinks & cakes available.
  • Finishing sequence
  • A safer approach to inversions
  • Short break
  • Pranayama
  • Relaxation
  • Farewells and Thanks.
